Q:Canon powershot sd790is 10mp camera VS canon powershot g10 digital camera. Which is the best?—By Grnat a
I have a friend who is a professional photographer, and i want to give him a high spec but handy camera, so far i shortlisted these:- canon powershot g10 digital camera and canon powershot sd790is 10mp camera. But cant seem to digure out which one is the best out of all of them, so let me know and i will make my mind up.Thanks.

The question you want to answer is which has the largest sensor and longest optical zoom.
But as far as a professional photographer is concerned, they rarely ever use a P&S camera. There is very little control available on them and pros like to have precise control over the photo they are shooting. Instead, buy him a visa gift card so he can go into a camera store and buy what he needs.
You never know what a pro needs. We are always replacing dinged UV filters, a lens shade every once in a while and we can always use memory cards. He may even need a new camera backpack that will hold his notebook computer as well.
Just a quick search found that the G10 is much more camera than the SD790 IS. And over twice the cost. You will see that the G10 has a larger sensor, a higher pixel count and 5x optical zoom,.hot shoe for an external flash, aperture and shutter speed priorities, can shoot in RAW and has an actual filter thread on the front of the lens.
