Philip Ryan from cnet review on Pentax K200D and came out with ”The good: Sensor-shift image tabilization; wireless flash control; sensitivity-priority mode; dust and water resistant.—The bad: Inaccurate, though still pleasing colors; tends to underexpose images; no live view mode.—The bottom line: Pentax’s K200D entry-level SLR gives a lot of bang for the buck and has better performance than last year’s model. Despite low noise and pleasingly detailed images, technically inaccurate colors keep it from capturing the gold medal for image quality.” Read more …

Jamie Harrison From trustedreviews Verdict the Pentax K200D and said”The handling of the K200D is very simple yet it maintains a reassuring, more professional build quality. Images are sure to please even the most critical photographer, with few serious problems bar slight underexposure on rare occaisions. There are plenty of features to keep beginners and advanced users happy, with the only major disappointment coming from the drive speed.” Read more…

Some Customer From Amazon.com Look at Pentax K200D 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with Shake Reduction 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens

By Douglas Peterson “Jesus Is Lord of All” (McHenry, IL) —Absolutely Fabulous Camera“A funny thing happened on the golf course, I left my Kodak camera in a cup holder, my son-in-law hit the gas while I was out shagging a ball. Camera fell and the lens popped off and fell into the grass somewhere in the 15th fairway!Oh well, time for a new camera!Know that a trip was coming up (Holy Land Tour) I decided to ask my wife for a really nice camera. At first I was looking very hard at the Nikon D-60 and also an Olympus. But then I happened upon the customer feedback for the Pentax K-200. This with the fact I had a Pentax 70-200MM zoom lens orphaned to me years ago, sold me on this camera.I took the plunge and could not be happier! This camera rocks! I’m still learning it, but even taking auto-auto pictures gives you superb pictures!Another thing that sold me is the weather proofing features that the others did NOT have. Trekking around the dead sea and other dusty areas and having my camera ruined just isn’t going to cut it!While this camera is a tad heavier than the Nikon, it’s not unbearable by any means.Lastly, Pentax has been making cameras for decades and decades. You’ve got a solid brand and reputation backing your purchase up.Have a Happy Thanksgiving and Blessed Merry Christmas to all!

By Dr. Tom Bell “Tom Bell” (Devon UK) - The top beginner to enthusiasts DSLR“I have used Pentax and nikon most of my life. i had th Pentax DS before. this is a considerable improvement. I will agree with the two previous reviewers and put out briefly why i would choose it.AA Batteries. now with Eneloop batteries they hold their charge as well and are far more convenientWeatherproofing. this is fantastic in an UK climate but you will need to buy a 17-70 pentax lens when it comes along … then the whole system is good for the great UK outdooors. It is unique in ths!!!Dust removal .. a boon Dust detection .. brilloiant so easy to see where the problem is.Image stabilising …. wonderful Heavy … but i like that …Go get it ….PS you can use all the pentax lenses ever made …

Pentax K200D, Canon Rebel XS or Nikon D60?
I am about to buy a digital camera. I have a Pentax K1000 (with two lenses which I’ve been told could work on a digital Pentax) that I like a lot, but unless you develop film yourself, things are getting pricey. I read about the three models, they all seem equal. This is why I am asking you which of these three “entry-level” professional cameras should I buy?

I am a Nikon person and normally recommend that brand due to lyalty built from years of satisfaction with it. That said if you already have several lenses from another brand and are familiar with how thier cameras are layed out and handle; then it only makes sense to buy the same brand.

Ny first camera was a minolta then I had a pentax. It was a good camera. I personally feel the Nikons I have now are better but I got prettygood photos with both of the other brands I had

The K10D and K200D are basically the same camera.

But the 10D is aimed for more advanced users with lots of buttons on the camera body to control the camera and no scene modes.

The 200D is aimed more at entry level photographers and includes lots of preprogrammed scene modes and more things are controlled using menu options.

The theory is that advanced photographers want more control over their images, while newer photographers are happy to leave more of the decisions up to the camera’s automatic sytems.

The 200D has the facilty for similar manual control over images as the 10D but Pentax assumes 200d owners will not use them as much as 10D owners.

The 10D body has weather sealing as well.

Buy the Pentax K200D with the Pentax lens. This is not meant to downgrade Sigma lenses but IMO you’ll be better off with a Pentax lens. Remember, Pentax has its version of Image Stabilization (IS) in the camera body so every lens you use will have that benefit. Nikon will happily charge you for IS (Nikon calls it Vibration Reduction) with every lens you buy. So will Canon.

The K200D is weather sealed against dust and moisture. However, this does not mean you can dunk the camera underwater.

Another fine choice would be the Sony A300 which also has its version of IS in the camera body. It also has Live View which works with the auto focus. Every legacy Minolta Maxxum AF lens made since 1985 can be used on the Sony DSLR line.
